The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that Nasir El-Rufai was denied medical treatment while in the custody of the ICPC, claiming his personal doctor was arrested and his wife assaulted during an attempt to secure his hospitalisation.
In a statement signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of political persecution and warned that Nigeria was sliding into authoritarianism.
“The world should know today that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is holding a political prisoner in Nigeria by the name of Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai,” the statement said.
The ADC demanded unrestricted access to El-Rufai’s family, lawyers and doctors, a review of his bail conditions, and his immediate release. It added that the ICPC had yet to respond to the allegations.
