Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commissioned the 105-bed Omoku Zonal Hospital in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.
The three-storey secondary healthcare facility is the third zonal hospital delivered by the Fubara administration and is expected to serve residents of the Orashi region in Rivers West Senatorial District.
Fubara said the project reflected his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare and the welfare of residents, urging the people to protect the facility from vandalism.
He noted that the Ahoada zonal hospital had already been commissioned, while the third facility in Degema would soon be completed.
The Oba of Ogbaland, Nwachukwu Obuoha Obi III, commended the governor for the project and the recently commissioned Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road, urging him to sustain development efforts.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Hospitals Management Board, Bright Ogbonda, said improved healthcare infrastructure was attracting medical personnel to rural communities.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Vincent Wachukwu, said the hospital, awarded in 2024, also has parking space for over 100 vehicles and accommodation for medical workers.
