Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has cautioned former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan against returning to partisan politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lamido, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, urged Jonathan to remain above what he described as the nation’s “murky political arena” and preserve the dignity associated with his status as a former President and elder statesman.
According to the former governor, Jonathan occupies a unique position both within Nigeria and internationally, adding that it would be inappropriate for him to be drawn into a politically charged environment allegedly dominated by “self-seeking and self-serving characters.”
Lamido maintained that Jonathan’s legacy and statesmanship should not be subjected to the pressures and controversies of contemporary partisan politics.
He further advised the former President to continue playing the role of a national leader and unifying figure rather than aligning with politicians pursuing personal ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
