The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says over 100 million electorates are being targeted on its voter register for the general elections next year.
INEC Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye disclosed this in a statement in Lagos, yesterday.
He stated that the deployment of technology has helped to reduce electoral malpractices, as it was witnessed in the just concluded Anambra state Governorship election.
“Before 2023, INEC is targeting over 100 million voters as more Nigerians continue to respond to the voter registration”, he said
Okoye also said that the commission will continue to put measures in place that will guarantee free, fair and credible elections in the country.
He urged media houses to offer constructive criticisms and partner with the commission for democratic development.
