Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State, Sen. Magnus Abe has said that the level of violence and brutality visited on members of the party, before and during saturday’s election is unprecedented in the history of the state.
Abe, said this during a press briefing in his office in Port Harcourt on Wednsday.
According to him, Rivers state is known for violence but, the kind of “genocidal violence” melted to members of the party has never been seen before in the state.
He stated that members and supporters of the party were disenfranchised across the state and many of them beaten for voting the SDP, adding that security operatives aided the illegal act.
Abe, also alleged that traditional rulers in the state were compelled to support the PDP, and directed to ensure that persons who do not want to vote for the party are not allowed to vote in their respective communities.
He said thugs and militants were also mobilized to intimidate supporters of other parties, which created voter apathy across the state.
He commended members of the party for their support, noting that he will consult with stakeholders to know his next line of action
