The International Press Centre (IPC) has called on the government, security agencies and INEC to prioritise the safety of journalists ahead of next Saturday’s elections. This is as it revealed that 20 journalists were attacked during last Saturday’s presidential election.
The IPC, in a report on the safety of journalists during the February 25th poll urged the government and security agencies to probe the various attacks on journalists.
It said, the journalists were subjected to harassment and intimidation, and that some of the perpetrators were police personnel, angry youths and political thugs, revealed the report.
The IPC also said the journalists were covering the elections for their respective platforms.
