The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects and recovered 12 vehicles, firearms and ammunition in operations conducted between June and August 2026.
The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, disclosed this during a briefing at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, where the recovered arms, ammunition and stolen vehicles were displayed to journalists.
Adepoju warned that Rivers State would not be a safe haven for criminals, assuring that the command would ensure suspects are arrested and prosecuted.
He also disclosed that two police officers were killed during one of the operations, while some others sustained injuries.
The Commissioner urged residents to desist from criminal activities, stressing that there is no gain in crime.
He assured residents that the command would remain vigilant and proactive in tackling crime through intelligence-led operations to apprehend more criminals across the state.
