Rivers State has been listed as the third highest state with people living with HIV/AIDS.
The state commissioner for Health, Adaeze Oreh disclosed this in a statement to mark this year’s World Aids Day Today, with the theme: Let Communities Lead.
According to her, a 2018 National Aids indicator and Impact Survey placed Rivers state as the third highest state with people living with the virus after Akwa Ibom and Benue states.
She said 95 percent of people with the virus are aware of their status, while 98 percent are on treatment and 87 percent are virally suppressed and are receiving treatment in 116 medical facilities across the state.
