The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, has visited and inspected the 250-bed capacity isolation center currently under construction in Port Harcourt.
Gov. Wike shortly after visiting the edifice, expressed satisfaction at the level of work done.
He said the state government is taking all the necessary measures to ensure the Coronavirus does not spread, in the state. “We don’t want to be caught unawares, that’s why we are putting everything in place.”
The Governor stated that the Isolation Centre will be divided into three units: a male unit, a female unit and an administrative complex for health professionals who administer treatment to the Coronavirus patients.
Wike also commended well-meaning Rivers people and a few organisations for their donations to the state government.
Members of the Task Force on Enforcement of the Ban on Public and Religious Gatherings, accompanied the Governor on the inspection
Although some residents of the state have commended the Governor for the feat, others believe that his COVID-19 measures are extreme. According to them, the virus is a scam by the government to loot public funds.
