Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is expected to swear in the newly elected local government chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State this week.
The tenure of the current Chairmen ends this week after three solid years in office.
The 23 newly elected chairmen who are of the People’s Democratic Party were elected during the April 17, 2021 LG elections that was marred by political apathy.
However, many opposition parties have continued to criticize the election, stating that it was rigged in favor the ruling party in the state.
