Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has warned Banks against delaying funds meant for contractors for the execution of projects in the state.
Wike, gave the warning during the flag off ceremony for the construction of Aluu/Omagwa Road in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State.
He said the state government will not hesitate to terminate the contract with any bank caught in the act again.
The Governor, said when funds for projects have been released, banks should not fail to make them available to contractors as at when due.
He stated that such delay frustrates the completion of projects, as he specifically warned Access Bank to desist from such act, or risk termination of their contract.
“Part of the problems we have is the banks. When you give contractors money, the banks will make sure that they delay release of the money,” he said.
“The next time any of our contractors complain about their funds not being released to them, that will be the day we will terminate any relationship we have with them.
He further explained that his administration has fulfilled the promises it made to the people of Ikwerre, as he urged them to always deliver more votes to the PDP during elections.
