The Nigeria Labour Congress, has accused the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike of subjecting pensioners in the state to untold hardship with about 15 months of unpaid pensions.
NLC, President Joe Ajaero said this during the Kebbi State delegates conference of the Congress in Benin Kebbi, the state capital.
Ajaero, who was represented by Uche Ekwe also said Wike is not the only governor in Nigeria maltreating pensioners adding the Governors; of Abia and Imo States are doing same to workers and retirees.
“Wike is not the only governor in Nigeria suffocating civil servants. What is happening in Abia State is alarming and worrisome. Also in Imo State, Hope Uzodinma is also refusing to pay workers salaries promptly and denying retirees their gratuities,” he said.
He urged workers to interface with political candidates in every state to ensure they vote workers-friendly candidates who would meet their demands.
