Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has announced that he has received reports that the taskforce stationed at Khana LGA to monitor compliance on the closure of borders in the state are accepting bribes and allowing people into the state.
The governor made this known during a Call-in programme, Viewpoint with Segun Owolabi on Rhythm FM today. He noted that it is disheartening that the people sent to monitor the activities of the security personnel at the borders are engaging in such an act.
Wike during the chat, blasted the federal government for not supporting the state in the fight against the virus. He urged residents to obey his directives in the state. The directives are difficult but needed for the good of all, he noted.
The governor while answering questions from a caller on what he has done for the UPTH, listed his achievements and blasted the CMD for spreading fake news against the state government. He stated that he wasn’t invited by the CMD on the commissioning of the new treatment centre, when asked while he wasn’t present by another caller.
On the alleged rift between the state government and SHELL, Wike said they are all lies as the MD calls and notifies him on their activities this period on a daily basis. He equally noted that two PCR machines will be donated by SHELL today.
