Governor Nyesom Wike, of Rivers State has confirmed that the late ASALGA Boss, Odiari Princewill and the late NDDC Acting Director of Finance, Bassey Ibanga Etang died of complications from the coronavirus.
The Governor made this known at a meeting with religious leaders in Government House Port Harcourt yesterday. The meeting was organized to direct religious leaders on the need to obey government directives on the COVID-19 in churches.
Gov. Wike during the briefing noted that it is laughable and surprising that some persons still don’t believe that the virus exists. He stated that “you will only know it exists, if you have lost someone you know.” He equally confirmed that some officials of the government are currently positive for the virus, and are currently being treated.
Wike frowned at some business organizations for allowing people into their premises, without observing the necessary protocol. He also stated that only 70 persons are allowed to worship at once in churches in the state.
The religious leaders in their remarks commended the Governor for proactive measures taken to curb the spread of the virus.
