The Rivers State Government, has denied claims by the Chief Medical Director of UPTH, Prof. Henry Uboma that Gov. Wike directed his transition team in 2015 to discredit former Governor of the state and current Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Uboma who was a member of Wike’s transition team and a former member of the People’s Democratic Party, made the allegation in a statement on Tuesday.
He alleged that Wike had directed them to destroy Amaechi politically, and make sure that he does not take up any political position in the country.
In a swift reaction, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, in a statement on Tuesday, said the allegation is baseless and has no iota of truth.
Nsirim said Amaechi was indicted by a duly constituted Judicial panel of inquiry, by the state government, as the matter is still at the Supreme Court.
He said the former Governor, did not handover to Wike, who had to start from the scratch to pay backlog of salaries Amaechi left behind.
Nsirim said Rivers State is the only state where there was no handover in 2015.
