Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command DCP, Adamu Abubakar of trying to sabotage the lockdown in the affected areas of the state by issuing illegal letters to companies to operate.
The Governor made this known while monitoring the level of compliance with his directive in Port Harcourt today. Wike who commended residents of Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor of obeying his directives, noted that the measures taken are necessary for the good of all.
The Governor blasted the DCP for allegedly collecting bribes from companies to operate, and for releasing persons arrested for disobeying his directives. He noted that all those arrested must be prosecuted at the mobile court set for this purpose.
Wike who stated that he has called for an emergency security Council meeting by 3pm today, thanked the Navy and Army for enforcing the lockdown.
