The widow of the late Chief Security Officer of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Jeminiwa Richard Timothy, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, the Rivers State Government, the Federal Government, and the international community to ensure justice over the killing of her husband and their 23-year-old son, Silas.
Timothy, a retired Nigerian Army corporal, and his son were murdered on January 31, 2025, by suspected assassins at their home in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. The attack occurred while Timothy’s wife, Grace, was away with him earlier in the day, leaving Silas in charge of his siblings.
Rejecting police claims that the incident was a kidnapping, Mrs. Jeminiwa said the killings were targeted and linked to previous threats and attacks on the stadium property her husband secured. She recalled that during one incident, thieves looted the facility at dawn, prompting her husband to respond with only a torchlight.
The grieving widow, who buried her husband and son in Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State, described the loss as devastating, saying, “Every day of my life, I’m in pain. Please, find justice for me.”
