A seccesionist group based in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, the Biafra Nations League (BNL), has reacted to refusal of the Rivers State Government to allow the United Igbo Community hold its meeting, in the State.
The Rivers State Government had in a statement announced the ban of the meeting by UIC, that was scheduled for Friday, citing security reasons.
The Biafra Nations League, in a statement by its Deputy National Leader, Ebuta Akor shortly after the ban was announced, threatened to unleash mayhem on oil companies operating in the state, if the meeting is not allowed to hold.
The group warned Gov. Wike to stop threatening the Igbos simply because of the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB).
They said that the recent attacks in the South East, is nothing to compare to the ones perpetrated by militants who are not Igbos in the oil rich State, few years ago.
“We call on Wike to reverse the ban on Igbo groups to freely hold their meetings, otherwise we’ll deploy our men from Bakassi Peninsula to terrorize oil companies in Port Harcourt coastal areas,” he said.
“Treating the Igbo as terrorists could give rise to real terrorism in Rivers State,” he added.
The group also accused Gov. Wike of being sentimental against Igbos in the state, despite being an Igbo man.
