Former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, and leader of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Vanguard in Rivers State, Hon. Tony Okocha, has said that the Amaechi’s administration lost the structure of the People’s Democratic Party out of recklessness in 2013.
Speaking, during the inauguration of the Ikwerre chapter of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Vanguard, BATS-V in Elele on Sunday, Okocha said they were like orphans that period.
According to him, the Amaechi’s government was at the verge of being impeached in 2013, before Tinubu showed up and rescued the current Minister of Transportation and his associates.
Okocha, also said Rivers APC has no reason not to support BAT for president, adding that he rescued Amaechi from the then President, Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Nyesom Wike’s stranglehold.
He explained that Tinubu has the experience to pilot the affairs of the nation, and they would support him to emerge president in 2023.
“The man (Tinubu) because of who he is and the charisma he carries and leadership acumen, he is still onboard. 2023, it is Tinubu and only Tinubu we know and we support for President. It is Tinubu because of who he is and the charisma he carries, his leadership acumen still exceptional,” he said.
“When out of our recklessness in 2013, we lost the structure of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers, we became like orphans. We were overwhelmed. We needed respite. It took Tinubu who came to say we will not wallow in helplessness and hopelessness. And that was how we joined APC,” he added.
