—Set To Celebrate Two Years In Office With Harvest Of Projects
— To Flag Off Construction Of Divisional Police Headquarters In Egbeda and High Court Complex In Emohua
Emohua local government chairman, Hon Chidi Lloyd, DSSRS has expressed gratitude to God for the change of narrative in the local government area under his administration.
The council chairman said he promised to change the narrative about Emohua local government area during his electioneering campaigns in 2021, stressing that his administration is grateful to God for the widely celebrated positive narrative about the local government area within two years of his administration.
Dr. Lloyd stated this at the inauguration of the reconstituted Emohua local government revenue committee, held at the executive council chambers of the local government council in Emohua on Thursday.
The revenue committee has Mr Jim Morrison Ph.D as Chairman and Mr Tony Ihua as Secretary, with Pius Onyegbula, Sunny Amadi, Dede Easter, Emmanuel Osilem, Collins Owakah and Onyema Okechukwu as members .
Dr. Lloyd charged the chairman and members of the revenue committee to live up to expectation by improving the internal revenue of the local government area, with a view to sustaining the new narrative occasioned by the infrastructure revolution witnessed across the local government area under his watch.
He however noted that the delivery of some key projets within the local government council headquarters were delayed due to other critical infrastructure projects undertaken simultaneously across communities in the local government area, but maintained that community based projects are intended to improve the living standard of the people in the rural areas, who may not have access to the facilities in the local government council headquarters, stressing that his administration will continue to ensure that the impact of government is felt in rural communities.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the committee, Mr Jim Morrison thanked the council chairman for the privilege to serve, promising to be diligent in service, in line with council chairman’s commitment to sustaining the infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua local government area under the present administration.
Reacting to insinuations of multiple project execution under his administration, Dr. Lloyd said those criticizing him for embarking on different infrastructure projects across the local government area were the same characters who criticized successive administrations for not being able to execute projects, hence their armchair criticism cannot distract him from sustaining the new narrative about the local government area, which he promised the people before his election.
In continuation of the infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua local government area, in line with his administration’s commitment to sustaining the narrative, the Emohua council Boss said plans are underway to celebrate his second year in office with harvest of infrastructure projects conceived, executed and completed by his administration in October 2023.
According to the council chairman; some of the projects expected to be commissioned during the anniversary celebration include the already completed 1 Kilometer Chief Nyesom Wike Drive in Akpabu community; the 1 Kilometer Ubimini community road currently undergoing asphalt laying and the 1 Kilometer Elder Chinedu Tasie road ( Former Omkpova-Mgbere road) in Ibaa community, the Emohua Divisional Police Headquarters Building situated opposite the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University along Emohua-Kalabari road, as well as the Akpabu community water scheme.
Projects expected to be completed within the local government council headquarters before the anniversary celebration include the Engr. Emeka Woke ICT Studio; the Mary Ngozi Kekwaru Pavilion (Mini Stadium), the Emohua local government Warehouse and the extension of the local government primary healthcare centre ( doctor’s residential building and cold chain facility).
Meanwhile, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has disclosed his administration’s intention to undertake the construction of a befitting divisional police headquarters building in Egbeda community, to be flagged off by the Rivers State police commissioner on the invitation of the local government.
Sequel to the approval for the creation of a state high court division in Emohua local government area, Dr. Lloyd said the Chief Judge of Rivers State is expected to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the state high court complex in Emohua, to be undertaken by Emohua local government in line with his administration’s commitment to reposition the local government through the promotion of quick dispensation of justice.
It might interest you to know that Emohua local government area never had a state high court division since its creation in 1991.
Hon. Chidi Lloyd upon assumption of office in 2021 took a bold step on behalf of the local government to seek for approval for the creation of the first ever state high court division in Emohua local government area.
To the glory of God, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon Justice S.C Amadi, DSSRS has graciously approved the request by the local government.
