The famiy of female police sergeant, Levenda Elekwachi, who was shot dead by her colleague at Eneka in Obio/Akpor local government area, Rivers State, says more than one year after the incident, the Rivers State Government and the state Police Command have done nothing for them.
Husband to the late Sergeant, Mr. Elekwachi disclosed this in a chat with journalists on Thursday.
He said, his late wife was abandoned at the morgue for more than a year, before he managed to bury her without any support.
Mr Elekwachi, noted that life has been unbearable for him and his family without the support of his late wife, who was until her death attached to the Elimgbu Police Division.
He appealed to the state government to assist the family, as they have done to families of security Operatives who lost their lives while on duty, in the state.
The deceased, was shot by a mobile police officer attached to the state Task Force at Eneka Junction in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses say the suspect was about to shoot someone else, before the bullet mistakenly hit Mrs Elekwachi, who died on the spot.
