The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Rivers State, says it is working with other agencies to reduce the consumption of methamphetamine also known as Ice or Nkpuru mmiri in the East.
The agency, in a statement at the weekend said the menace if allowed to continue will eat up the entire society.
It said the future is under threat, since the drug which is destructive to the body and more potent than cocaine is being consumed by youths.
The NDLEA, also said all hands must be on deck to put an end to the evil, and urged communities to develop a strategy to handle the issue.
The agency also said, according to Medical experts the euphoria from the drug is 200 percent higher than the euphoria received from orgasm. This is one of the reasons many youths have been addicted to it.
It cautioned youths against consuming the drug as its end result is fatal and unthinkable.
