The Nigeria Union of Journalists in Rivers State, has called its National leadership to urgently fix a date for election in the state.
The union, made this known after an emergency meeting held on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
The Rivers NUJ, noted that they are not aware of any Caretaker Committee set up to oversee the affairs of the union in the state, and promised to resist any attempt to impose one on them.
The union, also passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman, Stanley Job Stanley and his secretary Ike Nwigodo.
A member of the drafting Committee, Olalekan Ige who read the communique reached after the meeting, warned journalists to be peaceful and law-abiding pending when an election is conducted.
