The Nigerian Ethnic Forum, Rivers State Chapter, has declared its full support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, pledging unwavering loyalty to the party’s Chairman-elect, Chukwudi Dimkpa.
The endorsement was made during a courtesy visit by the Forum’s leadership to the ADC Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Addressing the delegation, Dimkpa emphasized the importance of active voter participation, urging non-indigenes residing in the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He noted that party membership without a PVC holds no electoral value.
“We are hungry, we are angry, and we are tired,” he said, stressing the urgency for political transformation at both the state and national levels.
Dimkpa also referenced reforms carried out during the administration of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, particularly the abolition of tuition fee disparities between indigenes and non-indigenes at Rivers State University, describing it as a landmark achievement in promoting inclusivity.
Also speaking, the ADC Rivers State Chairman, Chief Ambassador Leader Sampson, described non-indigenes as a significant voting bloc and urged the Forum to extend the same level of support to Dimkpa as it had to past leaders.
Earlier, the Forum’s leader, Chief Uchenna Okokoba, represented by Comrade Gift Itta, said the group had long aligned with Amaechi due to his inclusive governance and developmental policies, which positively impacted non-indigenes across the state.
