The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the killing of a former local vigilante leader, Ikechi Wordi by unknown gunmen at Ogbakiri community, in Emuoha Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the development in a statement in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
He explained that two persons lost their lives during a fracas in the area and that the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday has ordered an investigation into the matter.
“I can confirm that two persons were killed in a fracas this afternoon in Okporo-Ogbakiri; that is all I can say. But I was told by the Divisional Police Officer that when they got the distress call, they immediately mobilised men to the scene.
“But on arrival, they didn’t meet anybody. They only saw two corpses. They removed the bodies and took them to a mortuary,” he said.
Sources revealed that the gunmen stormed a funeral in the area and shot the former vigilant leader and another person identified as Princewill.
