Hon. Blackson Nwanyanwu, leader of Etche legislative arm in Rivers State has been accused of physically assaulting his brother’s wife, Mrs. Nwanyanwu for allegedly being a witch.
The victim’s son Wisdom Nwanyanwu who confirmed the incident in a chat with Elanhub’s reporter, Uhegbu Stanley today said the incident happened on Sunday at about 7:00PM in his village, Umu-Alu in Etche LGA.
He said the mum had travelled to the village on Saturday only for Hon. Blackson and his siblings: Mr. Chukwuma, Nwachi, and his niece Ruth to physically assault her after accusing her of being a witch for always troubling their mum.
” …blackson led his brother (Mr chukwudi nwanyanwu popularly known as baba), his sister known as nwachi, and his sisters child known as Ruth amadi…… And when they got to her, Blackson led the attack with a slap and started hitting her and the siblings who came with him joined forces and threw my mum on the ground and they were hitting her seriously that night …at a point the sisters daughter known as Ruth amadi came out and used a chair to hit my mother on the head and when they saw that she started bleeding then blackson wanted to run out of the scene but my mum held unto him and his brother chukwudi forcefully pushed my mother to the ground and at that point blackson nwanyanwu quickly went into his vehicle and drove off…..my mum was left to die there …” he said.
He said this is not the first time Hon. Blackson’s siblings would want to attack his mum as the last time they tried to, he called him and reported the matter, only for Blackson to threaten him with an arrest.
“My heart bleeds for justice for my mother …tell the people that my heart bleeds for justice ,,,I cannot imagine what my mother went through that night in the hands of honourable blackson and his family..what if she had died my God Mr blackson is a beast and not a man…I can’t believe he is an honourable” he stated.
Meanwhile, Hon. Blackson has in a statement denied involvement in the incident, stating that it is “untrue.”
