Some Contractors under the aegis of Contractors Association of Niger Delta Development Commission, have this morning barricaded the Commission’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
According to reports, the contractors have shutdown activities at the Commission, over unpaid contract monies for 10 years and the delay by the Federal Government to Inaugurate a substantive board.
They said the failure of government to inaugurate a board for the commission has hindered its smooth operation.
They also said their contract monies have not been paid, despite executing most of the projects.
The contractors stated that the protest will continue until their demands were met.
Chairman of the Association Joe Adia in a statement said they are owed about N2trillion, adding that there must be an end to the evil.
“The point is that there must be an end to this evil. They owe us over N2tn for 10 years. We are saying that today will be the last time the NDDC will keep short-changing the destinies of contractors in the commission,” he said.
