The Student Union Government of the University of Port Harcourt has directed POS operators in the institution to reduce their charge for transactions or leave the school premises.
The SUG president in a memo directed POS operators not to charge more than N100 for N1000 and N250 for N5000.
The statement reads,
The attention of the student Government has been drawn to the illegal and indiscriminate increase in the charges fee of POS operators within the school community for the services they render.
However, in consideration of the economic hardship that we as university students are going through to meet up with our school. financial demands, academic activities, and the difficulties poised with the withdrawal of cash at banks and ATMS, prices of POS within the school community are hereby reviewed temporarily, pending when the situation normalises.
All POS attendants should adhere strictly to the aforementioned reviewed charges or kindly leave the school premises…”
