The University of Port Harcourt has denied a report by online media platform Instablog that a female law student of the institution was assaulted by lecturers for going against the Faculty’s dress code.
Public Relations Officer of the institution, Sammy Kpenu in a statement Today, said no such incident occurred in the faculty.
He urged the public to discountenance such false, mischievous and malicious information that has been erroneously ascribed to the Law Faculty of the University of Port Harcourt.
His statement reads,
The attention of the Management of University of Port Harcourt, has been drawn to a post by an Instagram blogging page called ‘Instablog’, on an alleged assault of a female Law Student by Lecturers of the Faculty of Law of the University of Port Harcourt, for being ‘inappropriate’ and going against the Faculty’s dress code and regulations.
For the avoidance of doubt, Management of the University wishes to state categorically that neither was there such an incident in the Faculty of Law of the University nor was any Lecturer of the University involved in such an unfounded incident.
The Lecturers and Students of the Faculty of Law of the University are law-abiding, well-cultured and highly disciplined. There is cordial and peaceful Student-Lecturer relationship under the rules and regulations of the University of Port Harcourt.

For further avoidance of doubt, the University of Port Harcourt is not currently engaged in any academic activity due to the ongoing industrial action by all Staff Unions.
