The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has commenced the demolition of illegal structures on its premises as part of efforts to restore order and ensure compliance with regulations governing the use of university property.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Sam Kpenu, disclosed this in a statement, saying the exercise followed a decision by the Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC) of the Governing Council.
The institution had directed owners and occupants of illegal structures to remove their belongings and vacate the premises before the commencement of the exercise.
According to the statement, the exercise is aimed at restoring order, ensuring compliance with university regulations and maintaining a safe and conducive environment.
The university urged all affected persons to comply with the directive and cooperate with relevant authorities to ensure the smooth execution of the exercise.
