The Governing Council of the University of Calabar has appointed the First Female Vice-Chancellor since the inception of the University. She is Prof Florence Banku Obi.
Prof Florence Obi‘s appointment was announced at the 159th Meeting of the 12th Governing Council of the Institution held today at the Conference Centre of Unical Hotel.
Speaking at the meeting, the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institution, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor for distinguishing herself in a field of equal contestants.
Senator Nkechi Nwaogu described the process leading to Prof Florence Obi’s triumph and emergence as free, fair, credible, honest, and exemplary.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi who is the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the Institution and a Professor of Education will assume office on 1st December 2020.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi has pledged to run an all-inclusive administration as a way of moving the institution forward.
Prof Florence Obi who described the event as memorable and special said she will work with other co- contestants to draw up a strategic plan that will chart the way forward.
