Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 33 passengers abducted by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims were kidnapped while travelling through the Magazu area of Tsafe on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The Joint Task Force North West said troops of Sector 2, working with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in Tsafe, responded swiftly to credible intelligence about the abduction.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists while they were moving the passengers to an unknown destination, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into nearby bushes.
All 33 passengers were rescued safely, with troops subsequently launching an operation to track the fleeing terrorists.
Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism, stating that the command remains committed to protecting civilians, restricting terrorist activities, and securing major transportation routes across the North-West.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible information about the activities and movements of terrorists and other criminal elements.
