Troops of the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny have uncovered and dismantled an illegal refining site in Bonny, Rivers State.
The operation, conducted on Saturday, June 21, 2025, was part of the ongoing “Operation Delta Sanity” targeting oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta.
According to military authorities, the site comprised one dug-out pit, one refining tank, four metallic drums, and several sacks containing large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The illicit facility was subsequently deactivated to prevent further environmental degradation and economic sabotage.
