Chief Tony Okocha and his group who were duly invited by the Rivers APC local organizing committee (LOC) for a meeting to plan the APC Presidential Campaign rally scheduled to take place on the 15th day of February 2023, this morning stormed out of the meeting.
Their reason, according to Chief Okocha, was that they were not interested in attending any meeting called in the name of the party, APC in the state, but were only interested in the presidential campaigns of Ahmed Tinubu.
The APC LOC for the State is headed by His Excellency, Pastor Tonye Cole mni, who is also the Rivers State Coordinator of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is by all standards the driver of the presidential campaign in Rivers State, in whose instance the meeting was called.
The meeting is currently presided over by Rt Hon. Dr. Sokonte Davies, the deputy coordinator of the LOC, acting in the stead of Pastor Tonye Cole, who is unavoidably absent, was slated to receive reports from appropriate sub-committees earlier set up by the central local organizing committee during the last meeting.
Tony Okocha and his group, after the introductory remarks by the presiding officer, Dr. Davies, staged a walkout, saying they were not interested in any meeting called in the name of APC in Rivers State for the Bola Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign rally even when cogent reasons were advanced for the absence of the LOC chairman, which is purely on health grounds.
The meeting is ongoing and reports from various sub-committees are being collated for effective planning of the APC mega presidential campaign rally coming up on 15th February 2023.
Mr. Okocha who is chairman of the NGO sub-committee was reported by his co-chairman at the central local committee meeting, that he has refused to call a meeting of his sub-committee despite several phones, thus no report has been received from his committee.
