President Bola Tinubu has extended his working vacation by a few days and is expected to return to Nigeria at the weekend.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
He said, despite being away, the President has continued to direct the affairs of the nation, including ordering an independent panel to investigate the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Minna while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Tinubu also delegated Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent him at official functions. Shettima departed Abuja for New York on September 20 to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Tinubu departed Nigeria for London on August 30 before moving to Paris, France, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bollore.
