Prof. Omiete Briggs who served as Collation Officer for Port Harcourt City Local Government Area in the February 25th Presidential and NASS elections has been replaced following alleged threats to her life.
INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Dr. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem made this known in a statement in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He said Briggs was supposed to continue in her position in the forthcoming elections but, was asked to step down for security reasons.
He also said the matter has been reported to its headquarters in Abuja for further investigation and that the relevant committees are meeting over it.
Recall that Briggs’ husband had alleged that his wife had been receiving death threats over her refusal to change the outcome of the February 25th elections.
