The Federal Government of Nigeria says the soot in Rivers State has made life hellish for residents, describing it as “unacceptable.”
Speaking, during the 6th National Council on Hydrocarbon held in Port Harcourt, Minister of States for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva, represented by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nasir Gwazor promised to tackle the menace.
He said, the Federal Government was deeply concerned about the soot, adding that his ministry will work with the federal ministry of environment to tackle the issue.
He assured that in no time the issue would be a thing of the past.
“The Ministry of Petroleum Resources, therefore, realises this problem and we are going to continue to work with the Ministry of Environment to provide a lasting solution,” he said.
“My good people of Port Harcourt, the soot is unacceptable. It has made life hellish for residents,” he added.
