Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says the recognition of Ateke Michael Tom as the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom in Okirika Local Government Area of the state, has brought peace to the area, and that his people are happy with him.
The Governor, said this during the 4th year coronation anniversary celebration of King Ateke Tom in Okochiri, yesterday.
He said there is peace in Okochiri land, adding that one of the duties of a traditional ruler is to maintain peace and security in his area.
He commended King Ateke for supporting his administration since he assumed office, and promised to complete the second phase of the Okochiri road.
Wike, called on the chiefs of Okochiri to continue to support king Ateke to maintain the already existing peace in the area.
The governor, assured that all the promises he made to the people of Okochiri, must be fulfilled before he leaves office in 2023.
He urged the people not to see King Ateke as a former agitator who fought for the Niger Delta, but as a traditional ruler who has brought peace and development to his people.
