Two Chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party in Asari-Toru local government area, Hon. Sampu Cottrell, a former council chairman and Chief. Basuene Lawson have resigned from the party.
Hon. Cottrel in a statement said he resigned from the party due to the autocratic lifestyle of the state governor, Chief, Barr, Nyesom Wike.
He said the party is being run by one man and that fresh ideas are not accepted, adding that the party has become incompetent and undemocratic.
On his part, Chief Lawson said he decided to dump the PDP due to bad leadership, stating that the party has lost focus.
The two party chieftains are yet to make their next move known.
Unconfirmed reports say they are close to joining the All Progressives Congress.
The People’s Democratic Party in ASALGA is yet to react to their defection.
