Some students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt have been arrested and paraded by officers of the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly raping a female student of the institution.
The students identified as Henry Ovuwu, a 100 level Sociology student and Destiny Nnamdi Azubuike, a 200 level student of Political Science were accused of luring the female student to their hostel on the pretence of wanting to charge her phone.
The accused students in a chat with journalists yesterday agreed to having sex with the victim but denied raping her.
The victim on her part said she consented to sleeping with one of the boys after which he left the room, only for two of his friends to storm the room and forcefully have their way with her.
Spokesperson of the state command who confirmed the incident to journalists said the matter has been transferred to the state CID for investigation. He also said the command will interface with the school authority to ensure that such crime never happens again on campus.
