The Federal Government of Nigeria, has said that states with higher percentage of COVID-19, will reveive more vaccine, when the first set of vaccines arrive at the end of January.

Programme manager, National Emergency Routine immunisation Coordination Centre, Bassey Okposen disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

“Those states with higher number of cases will be given additional doses. We’ve mapped out the health workers in each state and locations where these vaccines will be deployed as soon as we receive them. All the states in the country have cases and we need to get the vaccine to them all if we want to achieve herd immunity,” he said.

He also said that frontline health workers, the elderly and vulnerable persons would be prioritized.

Okposen assured Nigerians that the vaccine is safe and effective.

He said it will be introduced in four phases and this is due to its availability and quantity.
