Former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sokonte H. Davies has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing differences with the party’s current political direction and internal processes.
Davies, who served as the National Secretary of the party’s Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee, announced his resignation in a letter dated August 12, 2026, addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman in Ward 10, Tombia, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In the letter, he said the decision followed a period of reflection on his political journey, personal convictions and expectations regarding the party’s direction and broader political trajectory.
He described his decision as personal and deliberate, stressing that it was not motivated by bitterness or animosity towards any individual, leader or member of the party.
Davies expressed appreciation for the opportunities and relationships he gained during his time in the ADC, noting that he remained proud of his contributions to the growth, organisation and strengthening of the party’s membership base.
He formally relinquished his membership and requested that the party update its records accordingly.
Despite his resignation, Davies said he remained committed to democratic ideals, good governance, accountability, responsive leadership and the broader pursuit of a better Nigeria.
