Controversial social media figure, VeryDarkMan, has accused the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of hypocrisy and human rights violations. In a post on Tuesday, the activist alleged that while the EFCC boss advocates for a fair hearing in the case involving ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the agency carried out a forceful operation against him without due process.
According to VeryDarkMan, he was allegedly abducted in collaboration with officials from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), had guns pointed at his mother, and his friend was threatened with being shot. He further claimed that his phone was confiscated under duress and his vehicle was seized, despite no formal petition or criminal charges filed against him.
The EFCC and GTBank have yet to respond to these allegations as of the time of reporting.
