The Special Assistant on Electronic Media to Governor Wike, Simeon Nwakaudu has accused the federal government of engaging the services of Thisdayand The Guardiannewspapers to spread falsehood against the governor of Rivers State.
Nwakaudu in a press statement on Friday, April 10, 2020, accused the media outlets of being paid to heap insults on the governor through their editorials. He berated these media outlets for selling their platforms to people who are enemies of the state.
Nwakaudu said the newspapers took sides with the federal government by criticising the state government’s position on the arrest of the Carveton Helicopter’s pilots. He, therefore, described the editorials as the worst form of editorial marketing.
The pilots were not arrested for flying into the state, but over their refusal to get tested for Coronavirus, he said.
Furthermore, Nwakaudu urged the media outlets to criticise the federal government for doing nothing in the country to fight the COVID-19.
