Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has called for increased budgetary allocation for the Nigerian Police and other security agencies.
Wike said this during a meeting with the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba at Government House in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
He said as a former Minister, he is aware that government spends money on unecessary things, leaving the important ones behind.
Wike also said he had consistently advised every Commissioner of Police posted to the state to dedicate their time to fight crime, and Criminality and dissociate themselves from politics.
He assured the IGP, that his administration will continue to support the Police to ensure safety of lives and properties.
