The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reiterated that the seats of the 26 Rivers House of Assembly lawmakers who defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, remain vacant as they were no longer members of the House.
Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), National Legal Adviser of the party disclosed this in a statement yesterday shortly after Justice Donatus Okorowo of a Federal High Court, Abuja, adjourned the embattled Rivers lawmakers’ suit until January 24, 2024.
Ajibade said though President Bola Tinubu might have intervened in the dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, the party stood on what the constitution says about defection.
