The Rivers State Ministry of Education has announced that private schools are not to reopen for a new term, or collect fees from parents/ wards under any guise. This is due to the ban on social gathering caused by the COVID-19 in the state.
The State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku made this known in a statement on Monday in Port Harcourt. He said, the Ministry is still in consultation with the management and stakeholders of both private and public schools on the matter.
Prof. Ebeku, also stated that the ministry will in no distant time, announce a collaborative online teaching for third term. This will commence after due consultation with all stakeholders in the sector, as the government is not against online support for students, he noted.
He urged private schools to obey the directive as the ministry will not condone any act of disobedience.
