The Rivers State Government, has announced that it will establish a task force team to watch over the exit and entry points of the state. This is to ensure full compliance with the governor’s directive on the restriction of movement in the state, due to the Covid-19.
The State Governor, Nyesom Wike made this known on Monday, while signing the executive order at Government House, Port Harcourt. He said the task force will be in place because of the likelihood of sabotage from Federal Security Agencies.
The governor who has on different occasions accused the federal government of politicising the fight against the coronavirus said, his administration owe the people a duty to protect them, no matter what.
On the release of the Exxon Mobil Staff arrested for violating the lockdown in the state, Governor Wike stated that, no Federal Agency intervened as their release was made possible by the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians and not due to the strike-threat by PENGASSAN.
Furthermore, the governor announced that the State Government will employ 3000 environmental sanitation marshals to stop the dumping of refuse in public places.
