The Government of Rivers State is set to arrest and prosecute the contractor in charge of a water project in Odiogu Community, Ahoada West LGA. This is for abandoning the project awarded to him few months ago.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja said the state executive council took the decision after a meeting at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Gogo Jaja made this known to journalists yesterday after inspecting the project. He said after visiting the site two months ago, they wrote to the contractor, as it was discovered that he had abandoned the project.
Jaja said, the contractor was ordered to return to site or face prosecution. “We are here now, and he has not returned to site, he has abandoned the project,” he said.
