The Rivers State Government has reacted to claims by the owner of demolished Prodest Hotel, Promise Gogorobari describing it as spurious, deliberately misleading and intentionally provocative petition against the state government.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paulinus Nsirim made this known in a statement today. He stated that the government has been forced to respond to the false claims by Mr. Gogorobari for proper clarity on the matter. Though we had decided not to respond to previous claims by the owner since the matter was before the courts, he asserted.
Hon. Nsirim equally described as laughable and preposterous the claims by Gogorobari that the state government infected the hotel manager, Dr. Bariledum Azoroh with the coronavirus while in detention.
The statement read that government doesn’t carryout Covid-19 tests as it the duty of trained health professionals. These professionals follow the relevant medical protocols set down by WHO, the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC to conduct these tests, noted Nsirim.
The Commissioner who warned Mr. Gogorobari to desist from the act and stop blackmailing the NCDC, alleged that he is being sponsored by some politicians to carryout the onslaught against the government.
He furthermore, made it known that the prosecution and conviction of the manager, including the demolition of the hotel was in accordance with the laws of the land.
